Landscapes

I truly enjoyed this assignment. However, due to family and work obligations I was not able to get out and take as many photos as I would have liked.

Like many of my classmates, I too was looking for the "perfect" photo opp!

I converted some to black and white. I hope you enjoy them!

My photos were all taken within fifteen minutes from my home. The next to the last photo was a surprise. As I rounded the bend, she bolted across the road in front of me. Then she just stood in the woods, pretty as a picture.

Composition & Aesthetics

Cascading Water

Composition & Aesthetics combine the basic elements of photographic art to create movement, depth and harmony. Following the rules of composition appear to be the groundwork for any good photographer and don't forget, rules are made to be broken. Experiment and have fun!

Rule of Thirds

In my opinion the rule of thirds does not work for this photo, maybe it is because of the subject. I had taken a ride down a local back road on Friday. This beautiful home, surrounded by incredible gardens and landscapes sits on a very sharp curve. I backed into the driveway and explained to the elderly couple that I was taking a photography class and their gardens would be wonderful subjects. They graciously invited me to take as many pictures as I wanted. As I walked to the back of the property this memorial, in all of it's glory, stood proudly above the rolling meadows and pond below.

Grist Mill

This project was a fun! I took a ride after work on Friday. "Grist mill" was taken at the Vernon, Vermont post office, which sits on the site of an old grist mill. There are two large granite memorials that are situated on either side of the driveway. The "clouds" and blue sky was taken in my back yard on Saturday. The "church steeple" was a little challenging, as far as focus. I was looking through the church sign. I was trying to focus the leaves that surrounded the "sun chime" to give it more of a frame. "Moo" was fun, she just walked right up to the fence. I got a couple of great shots of her. "Hello there" were taken a couple of weeks ago when a mare from local farm foaled. I had the
opportunity and stopped on my way to work.
