Clone Text & Paint

Okay, I think I've finally gotten the hang of the clone tool. At least I feel a little more comfortable.
Text is okay and paint needs some work! I think I need to find another tutorial LOL!

Before with the bright sun spot.

After using the clone tool

I used this photo when I was experimenting with dodge and burn tools.

I had saved the other copy to my desktop at work and one of the guys thought it was cool.

He said it would be even better if it had "Anderson & Empey F.D." on the door.

So, here it is! I used the clone tool first to wash out the name that was on the door before.

Then I chose the font, size, added the arc and changed the VA to 50.

Before using the clone tool there were telephone poles and wires in the photo.

After using the clone tool and replacing a couple of trees, much better.

Probably shouldn't have added the text to this one ...

Cheers!

This was a warm summer afternoon and my daughters and I had taken the girls and a friend for ice cream.

Okay, this is fun, but I definitely still need to do some work with the paintbrush!

  1. Karen, you did an excellent job with the clone tool, the photo blends perfectly! I also like how you added the text to the fire truck! it came out great!

  2. I agree with Naomi that you got rid of the sun spot very well. I actually had to hunt to find where you cloned from! I couldn't really make out the added text to the truck but that is because the image is so small. On the plus side, it blends in well enough that I didn't know what you did until you explained it.

  3. Thank you both. The heart stone was a great subject for my first go around with the clone tool!

  4. Great job on these! The last photo is awesome all on it's own and then you made it very funny with the colors. I bet the girls laughed out loud when the saw it. I know it is a bit difficult to think of everything when taking pictures, but if you can look around and see the things like the waste barrel and move yourself over to the right a bit to hide it behind one of the subjects. It would be a great one to see if you could clone that out. Excellent work on the others as well. When putting in a watermark, try and make it more obvious and in one corner or the other. The firetrucks came out really good as well. Going overboard with the tools made this image very dynamic with the saturated colors and the high contrast.

  5. Thank you all for your comments. Thanks for the critique Kevin. I really appreciate the feedback. Yes, I wanted to move that trash can but was still trying to get comfortable with the clone tool! Some people that have seen the pictures of the trucks did not realize they were the same trucks that they drive by on an almost daily basis. That alone made me feel like I'd accomplished something!
